Frustrated - 4th July 2013

I currently attend a range of markets but these are mostly in Dumfries and Galloway. I’ve gained feedback that people further afield would like to also try and buy our products so that is why last week I decided to look for a market in the Glasgow area that I could hopefully attend monthly.
Now you would think this would be quite an easy task and it was, at the beginning. I identified a market that fitted in with the rest of the markets that I attend and so I did a wee bit of research on who attended them, the cost of it and whether I thought it was cost affective for Galloway Chillies to attend.
All boxes ticked, I though great and filled in the application – Chilli business wishing to attend your market and sell our products. Relatively straight forward or so I thought! But then I received the response to say sorry but there is already a stall holder at the market who sell a range of preserves and therefore it wouldn’t be possible for me to have a place. Now if there was already another chilli business there then I could understand but surely a stall that sells a range of preserves and my products would not impact on each other. After numerous e-mails trying to explain this I finally had to concede and give up on that market.
So people in the Glasgow area I am sorry but as long as others think I am only about jams and can’t see that I am actually a chilli business then I will continue to get frustrated and you will miss out on being able to try our products. Such a shame as I had thought that a chilli business would have brought new customers to the market which would have benefited it.
