Press Release

Dumfries and Galloway business, Galloway Chillies are amongst a worldwide group of businesses to be placed in the 2015 World Hot Sauce Award.

Galloway Chillies has been placed second for "Speciality Product in the Jam/Jelly Division" with their Chilli Burns product.

Their product was among a record 284 Hot Sauce Entries from 109 companies located in 14 Countries, across 14 Professional Categories and 5 Novice Categories in this years awards entries.

Speaking as she received the good news about their second place success, Sheena Horner said:

It's fantastic to see how well Chilli Burns has done since we developed it 18 moths ago and I am overwhelmed to see it placed second in such a prestigious worldwide award.  What’s particularly good is that Chilli Burns is a truly local/seasonal product incoporating three other locally made products in the ingredients – Bladnoch whisky, honey from A Bee Provided at Auchencairn and Waulkmill Cider vinegar.

This worldwide competition, hosted in Louisiana, was inevitably dominated by American sauces, marinades, seasonings, snacks, salsas and barbeque sauce but a respectable showing from all corners of the world saw awards going to every continent with a small number being awarded to business in Great Britain.

The Awards ceremony was held on Friday 17th July 2015 at the Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel, Charenton, Louisiana and streamed live from the venue with the award winning list published on the 2015 World Hot Sauce Awards website on Sunday 19th July.
